چکیده
In this paper, we present a field-trial C-band 72Gbit/s optical on-off keying (OOK) system over 18.8 km dispersion-uncompensated submarine cable in the South China Sea. Chromatic dispersion (CD) of causes four spectral nulls on 36 GHz bandwidth OOK signal, which is main obstacle for achieving an acceptable bit-error-rate (BER) performance. Decision feedback equalizer (DFE) effective to compensate nulls. However, DFE has serious defect burst-error propagation when burst errors emerge due unstable environment. Weighted (WDFE) can be used mitigate propagation, but it cannot fully because only part symbols directly decided. Fortunately, maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) added after WDFE simultaneously eliminate residual distortions and implement optimal detection. Compared joint MLSE algorithm, algorithm effectively suppress obtain 2.9 dB improvement Q factor phenomenon BER floor. conclusion, solve fiber-optic communications.

Mitigating error propagation effects in a decision feedback equalizer
We present an approximate analysis approach to the computation of probability of error and mean burst error length for a decision feedback equalizer (DFE) that takes into account feedback of decision errors. The method uses a reduced-state Markov model of the feedback process and is applicable to linear modulation formats. We use this technique to analyze a DFE design that mitigates the effects...
متن کاملPropagation of Highly Chirped Pulses in Fiber-Optic Communications Systems
The propagation of strongly chirped pulses in an amplified fiber-optic communications system is experimentally investigated. Spectral narrowing of the pulses is observed. The narrowing is attributed to interplay between the initial chirp and the nonlinearity in the transmission line. Four-wave mixing (FWM) between wavelength channels is found to be similar to that for unchirped nonreturn-to-zer...

The performance of radial basis function-based decision feedback equalized (RBF DFE) burst-by-burst adaptive quadrature amplitude modulation (AQAM) is presented for transmissions over dispersive wide-band mobile channels. This scheme is shown to give a significant improvement in terms of the mean bit error rate (BER) and bits per symbol (BPS) performance compared to that of the individual fixed...

Inter-symbol interférence is the main obstacle in reliable digital communications. Except for the spécial partial response signaling system, ISI must be suppressed as much as possible in order to obtain reliable digital communications. In wideband digital com munication, equalization is one of the main techniques to reverse ISI channel. Décision feedback equalizer is a popular structure becaus...
